my left foot....

well it still isn't quite right.
Was quite frustrated by the Saturday after it started hurting so did 11.5 miles anyway. It hurt, then it was better, then it really hurt if I stopped at all so no stopping allowed, then it didn't hurt at all, then real pain for about 5 mins before disappearing completely. Nice route through John Muir, up to Biel, along to PItcox, along to Eweford and back to Belhaven.

Sunday it hurt again, but did 5 miles in the dusk through John Muir and back along the beach into a head wind. The head wind was tough. Had to put some effort in to get back, and without being able to see the bridge at all it felt like the beach was endless. Foot didn't hurt at all when running. Only when walking. Hmmm - hope that doesn't mean I have to run all the time.....

Tuesday - town again - did a bit of a different loop around to alleviate boredom.

Thursday - 5km handicap - didn't do a great time and felt like I was really putting a lot of effort in. (well bpm was 175 with max allegedly 190). Still over a minute slower than fastest and nearly a minute slower than usual, but faster than January (to be fair if it was slower then I would have been well devastated!)

Friday - club night out - enjoyed myself but it does mean that Saturday's run wasn't going to be great.....and I was right. Saturday ran down to Dunbar via the bottom of Doon hill and then back along through town to the car. It felt like I was putting in a lot of effort and not really getting anywhere fast but hey have to make allowances. On the plus side it was a gorgeous day, blue skies, was running in t-shirt and 3/4 lengths. Fab!

And today - headed out with Sheila M. Had one of those runs where you know that you are going dead slow but can't make yourself go any faster at all. Well lets just put that one down as a bit of a "recovery run" - made it 10 miles around Eweford, Pitcox, down through our secret garden to the old A1 and back through John Muir and across the beach. Beach was busy today - some horse race thing going on and a whole bunch of folk with dogs (not the usual ones, but a proper organised gathering). Was nice when we were running but the fog soon came in.....

Need to get my foot sorted - no doubt it will cost a fortune. Have to at least get a chiropodist to look at it. Runner's feet are minging - I've so much hard skin on my feet it's unreal. And my corns are hurting when walking and running. (I sound like a 90 year old not the young spring chicken I am!) And then need new trainers (again) and I think I probably need a reassessment of my running style and understand if I do need some kind of insole or orthotic. The last podiatrist said it wouldn't help me (yup I'm beyond help yet again) due to my wonderful outer foot/forefoot strike with supination going on. Probably the oddest foot strike ever. Also think I'm going to need a massage as I'm sure the stabilising of ankle/foot is knackering my lower leg muscles.......
