Well another late entry….I’m so tardy! Some people
actually write in their blogs every day, and I
struggle on to do it once a week! What a week!

On Tuesday at club there were only 4 women – Anne,
Fay, Val and I. We ran from the club up round
Eweford, under the A1 and the right fork in the road
up towards Pitcox. We then turned along to Little
Spott, ran down Daniel’s Brae and up the other side
towards Spott. From there we ran down to Spott
roundabout and back to Halhill via the trees. Val and
I ran together enjoying the weather and the scenery
and chatting about Val’s son’s wedding at the weekend
past. It felt a bit tough on the way up (well I guess
East Kilbride gave me a bit of an excuse to have sore
legs) but better once we reached Spott.

Intervals on Thursday were interesting – we did
12x400m in 2 mins 45 secs. Not great if you are at
the slower end – you get enough time to run, stop,
start breathing, quick swig of water and you are off
again. And after all that we did 2x200m relay
(male/female pairings). That was good – better than
the last relay I attempted anyway. Managed to pass
over the stick! And Ross and I came second….Jennifer
managed to get a huge head start on the ladies leg, so
Ross did a good job on trying to close it down.

On Saturday, in the heat, I decided to go a long run
by myself. Mad I know but never mind. I headed out
with GPS, ipod, camelback – you name the gadget I
probably had it with me. I ran down past the cement
factory, along Whitesands, round the golf course to
town, round the harbour and along the boundary race
route on the cliffs. Then round Winterfield golf
course, which was 8 miles at the end of the golf
course. Then through John Muir to the North Berwick
road, along the NB road for a bit and then ran along
the Tyne to the Ford, crossed the bridge and ran along
the Tyne again to Preston Mill. I hadn’t quite run
enough by then (although I had run out of water and
was sweating like a pig) so did a wee loop at Preston
Mill to bring the total to 15 miles – longest ever
run. Didn’t stop much either (although I was taking
it pretty easy most of the way!)

On Saturday afternoon my brother, fiancé, mum and dad
came over for a barbecue so I got to restock on some
of the calories I had used up. This was the first
time I’d seen my brother in 2 years as he has been out
in New Zealand – and my first meeting of future sister
in law. All was good – especially judging by the
amount of beer and wine bottles that needed to be
recycled the next day.

And madness of all madness yesterday Sheila M and I
headed out on another long run. This time the weather
was more in our favour, cooler but still muggy. We
hit some juice and water as well so dehydrating was
not a problem. We ran from mine again, same route
round the golf courses to Belhaven, then through the
park heading towards the NB road but turned left at a
farm/some cottages about a mile from NB road. We
headed back along the A1 until the road to East Links,
ran down there and to the left to add some distance by
doing a short loop round the farm and down to the
sandy bridge, then back through John Muir Country Park
and back to Sheila’s. Another 15 miler (although the
GPS gave up the ghost after about 6 miles – needs
another battery!)

So since yesterday I’ve not been able to stop eating –
today I’m trying to be a bit healthier but after four
large oatcakes, half a pineapple and two rolls I think
I’m going to give in and go and get some sweeties.
Anyway I’m going for a run tonight so that should help
burn some off! (Thank God its meeting night and I have
an excuse for a short run
