things can only get better.....surely.....

think i may have managed a pw today at Glasgow 10km (or past 2 years anway). oops. well porridge and rice milk, whilst working ok for the last couple of weeks, clearly didn't agree with me on race day. Doing ok at the 5km mark, in line with last years first half split - and then a lovely lovely stitch. Can still feel it now! Had to slow it down considerably over the rest of the race.....guess it's back to the dry cereal for me, and if that doesn't work, either will have to give up on shorter early races or attempt them only after some lovely blue juice. Or maybe just try not to go too fast to begin with. Wasn't feeling too good going into the race but somehow managed to get the positive mental thing going on yesterday and today (until I started running that is!). Just checked my other crap 10km for the year - Dunbar and it was 55.45 so it could be a close run thing. isn't it funny how when you are having a good run, you think the course is flat
and good for pbs, and on a bad day you feel every little tiny pimple???? how odd.

past week had a few runs in it - none of them that good! Ran round John Muir with Brian on Sunday - breathing difficult especially starting. Monday did 10 miles but flat through John Muir. Managed ok but should have felt easier. Feet really really sore - not in my favourite Saucony's but Asics, and they were generally achy. Tuesday club did about 6 miles with Sheila M and Sheila K but really not feeling good. And intervals on Thursday....again not great. Had only had a couple of hours of sleep and had been drinking the night before so actually probably not toooooo bad - did cut most of the distances short though. Obviously need to keep going though to get used to this running quickly thing! Will update once have official time and splits - if I can face it!
