will I ever be able to lose weight?

So feeling a bit better - incidently last week thought I was the only human possible of getting up, weighing myself, going out for a 10 mile run, weighing myself and actually gaining weight. Herein lies my weight problem....I exercise. Maybe if I give it up and eat junk food all day I'd lose weight? Everyone then comes up with why I weighed more - popular were "it will have been all the water you drank" - well my scales told me I was no more hydrated after the run than I had been earlier (yup clever scales - tell you how fat you are (%age wise rather than making an insulting statement) and how much water you are). Second most popular reason was something to do with muscle - nup not buying it. Maybe breathing makes me gain weight???????

anyway imagine scales that really did tell you how fat you are - they could have great fun, especially if they had a memory function. You can just imagine it - early sunday morning stepping on and them coming back with "What the f have you been eating? Jeez you are way too heavy - and lardy. you better move that fat lazy ass to burn up some of that fat. And don't get back on until you do" How cool? Sounds like something the two women who wrote "skinny bitch" would come up with! (cheeky book, designed to give us a kick up the butt to make a concerted effort to eat better - don't read if you eat meet & especially not if you've eaten meat in America)

so onto running then.....it got vaguely better. Firstly didn't get a pw in Glasgow - 55min40 so it was close but Dunbar was 55min45 so that stands as the pw for the last couple of years. Must have run badly in Dunbar then given the Glasgow effort felt particularly poor.

Tuesday - club - legs hurt. Jane did well on Sunday - her first 10km and normally would say there is no better 10km to make your first. Anyway she was quite spritely on Tuesday. I wasn't. Struggled through the woods up to Eweford, and onto the Pleasance before heading over to Wester Broomhouse, down the closed road, down to Spott roundabout and back through the trees to Halhill.

Thursday - intervals. Nice - 2 sets of 3x800m in 5 mins. For my fans out there (are there any?) you will already be aware that I don't particulary like intervals that are over 400m long. Checking back through my running diary.... the last time we did 800m we did them in 6min15secs. Bit of a reduction in rest time then. I did 800m, 400m, 800m big rest followed by 800m, 400m, 800m. Managed to get quicker throughout and was a bit better than last week. Last interval in 3min 49 secs so not too bad.

Saturday - headed out on long run with Sheila K. Sheila hasn't run more than 6 miles for weeks so didn't really tell her where/how far we were going so she did well to make it round the 10 mile loop - same as last week through John Muir, along the Tyne, over the A1 and up towards Biel mill, through to Beesknowe and down to Tynefield and back through John Muir. Essentially flat and going quite a easy pace so felt good after. Weighed before and after to see if I'd gained even more weight but fortunately lost about a pound (although that will probably only be water - sods law)

Sunday - headed out on my own. Got Brian to drop me off near Innerwick and ran back through the trees to near the windfarm/woodhall, along to the Brunt, up from the Ford to the Brunt house (ran all the way - yeah hah!) and then up to the top of Brunt hill, down through the field and back home. Felt pretty good. Liking my new saucony. Trying to run a bit more heel to toe - 1/ to stop knackering my shoes so quickly and 2/to help my calves feel less sore. Feeling sad as no running watch at the mo - took back HRM as it had broke. Must have been working it too hard...............
